Raytech Prototyping

Raytech provides a variety of prototyping solutions at competitive rates. Prototypes are used to evaluate designs in context.

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)

SLS offers the key advantage of providing prototypes that are functionally close to final products. SLS is durable and flexible, about 60%-70% of the strength of common molded plastic. SLS is porous and requires more finishing if the prototype is to be painted.

Stereo Lithography (SLA)

Raytech recommends SLA prototypes for parts requiring small details and an excellent finish. SLA parts can also be used as a basis for RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization) molding of urethane parts, which more closely resemble injection molded parts and can be molded in custom colors without the need for painting.

Machining

Machined prototypes offer a wide range of material choices at various precision levels from hand-worked foam models to precision CNC (Computer Numerical Control) mill and lathe work. In foam, plastic, aluminum, or steel, machined prototypes provide an integral part of the prototyping process.

Sample Tooling

When only the real thing will do, Raytech builds sample tooling for injection molding, formed metal, vacuum forming, etc. Generally, parts made from sample tools are actual production parts -- not prototypes -- and can therefore be used for testing and regulatory approval, as well as for test marketing and user-centered research.

Metal Forming

Small bent sheet metal parts are often difficult to procure in prototype quantities through traditional sources. As a service to its clients, Raytech produces small bent contacts, larger bent metals, laser or water jet cut patterns, welded or bent metal tubing, wound springs, etc.
